I have scoured the web for this answer and all directions I find delete everything. I can't seem to find out how to delete an individual page number and header. Any suggestions are most appreciated.

Julie Cooly Created on July 20, I'm using word on Macbook OS And I'm about to cry, because working with headers in Word has just about destroyed my brain, and Microsoft's online and phone support are absolutely awful and costly, with no guarantee of help. Firstly, I cannot get the sections to unlink properly. What I want is to have no header per chapter first page, and no header on the foreword or title or copyright pages, but headers everywhere else.
I also want page number footers not to appear on select pages Every time I make sure the headers for each section have their 'link to previous' unchecked, the next time I type a header for the section I'm working on, that new header appears right back up at the start of the document. I do this over again, I delete all headers and start again, I run through all the section breaks to make sure they're as asked, I go back to section 2 and try to make a header that doesn't appear on the first pages of the novel by clicking 'unlink to previous', and the header I've just typed in the second section appears back at the start of the book.
The header skips the first page of the chapter as asked, but appears elsewhere in the previous section. I've been at this all day, running through the various descriptions of how to make it work, and I can't. Now for footers.
When I try to make it so that apart from the introductory pages and each chapter first page the different sections have continuous numbering, the opposite is true: They start over again each time, no matter how often I check 'link to previous'. I might suddenly see half a story appear in the middle of the story.
How do I remove/delete page numbers? - Apple Community
I approached the store Australian to ask them to take it back and give me Word instead, and they simply referred me back to the online support place that, when I rang, refused to help and referred me to the online support place that was going to charge me to give any advice at all on a software package that isn't doing what it ought to be doing when all the instructions say it should And if that's a long sentence then I hope it sums up my frustrating time with this awful, glitchy software.
